A Lot of Bull

While watching the news this evening, I learned that MTRCB had given an x-rating to a film because it depicted our “beloved president” in a not so complimentary manner. So what!!! George Bush had Michael Moore to contend with before his reelection, yet Fahrenheit 9/11 was watched by millions worldwide. Sure several legal road blocks were thrown Moore’s way to prevent the film’s showing but having surpassed them, the US government had no choice but to allow the public viewing lest they be accused of abusing their powers.

Today, some of our cabinet officials have no compunction in doing so. They have more fear for the occupant in Malacanang than the wrath of the Filipinos. Political patronage at its best! I scratch your back and you scratch mine mentality. Most likely because they got the position not by virtue of their qualifications rather by knowing the right people in authority. Why can’t these ass-licking public officials have any respect for the right of the people to express themselves which is stated clearly in the Constitution?
